In a recent fourth grade class students were having a difficult time placing fractions on the number line. They also were not recognizing the value of the reference marks placed on the line. We used two activities in the computer lab yesterday and for eight lab sessions, estimating on the number line and unitizing on the gird, delivering them to the 160 excited fourth and fifth grade students without fail. The video projectors that were used during the NCTM sessions are older models and do not display the Conceptua Math tools correctly due to the projector’s lower screen resolutions. Newer projector models will display the tools as they were designed.
