Conceptua® Fractions

is a supplemental online math curriculum that uses simple visual models to make it easy to teach fractions. Through the interactive, web-based math software, students progress from concrete to abstract representations, building conceptual understanding and procedural fluency. More

Failure to understand fractions concepts and procedures can prevent students from learning more complex mathematical topics. Yet students are not the only ones who struggle with fractions. Teaching fractions can be difficult for teachers.

Conceptua Fractions is built around our patent-pending manipulative models that support classroom and hands-on experiences. The Conceptua Fractions curriculum progresses gradually from visual fractions to numbers, which helps to strengthen the foundation for learning abstract concepts. By combining simple visual models, fraction games, clear instructions, and strategic feedback, the web-based math software makes lessons more understandable to students.

The Conceptua Fractions system follows the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). With a simple and intuitive interface, multiple modes of presenting information, and accessibility features for learners with physical limitations, students are able to work at their own pace.

Invisible Disabilities - Don't forget your students with Learning Disabilities

It's another school year and the other day I got to work with a great teacher who works with students with learning disabilities, as well as Tier II and III students in our RtI model.

I was helping her learn how to use her new interactive whiteboard and we began talking about some of her students who struggle with fractions, which led to a trip to www.conceptuamath.com.

I signed in and showed her how to use the free tools as an instructional modality with her interactive whiteboard and she was excited.  She was rattling off names of students who she thought would benefit from instruction with the tool.  During the demo, I show
